Child Development

The Lea County Extension Service works with the ENMU-TTAP to certify Child Caregivers licensing hours. Each year the extension service provides a 6-hour workshop for the regional providers. Programs may also be done with individuals and daycare centers when needed and fit into one or more of the seven required competencies. Programs that are available to child care providers include:

  • Family Morals, Values and Rules (1 ½ hours)
  • Ages and Stages: Infants and Toddlers (1 hour)
  • Understanding and Communicating Feelings (1 ½ hours)
  • Building Self Worth and Praising Children (1 hour)
  • Dealing with Stress (1 hour)
  • Making Lemons into Lemonade (1 ½ hours)
  • Baby Sense (1 hour)
  • Managing Difficult Behaviors (1 hour)
  • Meal and Snack Planning (1 ½ hours)
  • My Plate (1 hour)
  • Animal Trackers (1 to 2 Hours)

Childcare Providers interested in obtaining training hours will need to contact the Lea County Extension Office to set up a program.
